Bird on plum

Bird on plum

24"x18"

Painting on silk. This meticulous form of painting was very popular in the Art Academy founded by Emperor Zhao Ji (1082-1135) in the Song Dynasty (960-1271). It shows a bird on a plum blossom branch, and has been painted with several light layers of ink and colour.
